Greers Ferry Fishing Report

Hello All!  Happy Independence Day!

A couple of things to note for this report....

1.  Water Surface temperatures seem to be playing quite a roll in surfacing and feeding fish of all species.  The best areas for me are starting the day in the 81 -82 degree range.  Right now you may have 75 degree surface temps in one area and 3 mi. away you have 85.  Wind and Water dictates much of this right now. Pay attention to your electronics.

Most important to most right now are our Hybrids.  By this time last year we where seeing CONSISTENT days of 60 or more fish, not the case right now.  We have a Good bite overall but consistent high numbers simply aren't coming.  One day you can really get on them and catch great numbers within each school, while other days your lucky to get on them by the time they sound and move.  We are boating fish every trip out just not with the consistency I think we will see in a week or two.

2.  Our bait fish populations are stretched out from the backs of the creeks to main lake channels and flats.  Lot's of different size shad are present, 3/4" - 4 inches in length.  This is very important to note when pursuing any of our game fish here on Greers Ferry.

Most of our Small mouth and Kentucky's seem to be keying in on the smaller shad along with the whites, While our Blacks are keyed in on the larger shad with the walleye's and hybrids.

Limited dates are available for the remainder of the summer, Call or email me for availability~

Have a safe and wonderful holiday!  Good Fishin`

July Forecast

- Hello All!  July brings upon the heat of the summer and a hot bite
both early and late here on the reservoir.  Water surface temperatures
are ranging from the upper 70's early and up to the mid to upper 80's
by midday.  Water levels have crested from the spring rains and have
finally began to fall.  Fishing has been moderate to good so far this
summer and I am expecting big things to come here in July.

Our Hybrid and White Bass populations will be on the feed, BIG Time,
this month.  Look at early mornings to fish better than the
afternoons.  Large schools of an acre or more will drive our shad to
the surface feeding relentlessly.  In-Line Spinners, Spooks and Swim
Baits like the Lake Fork Magic Shad should all be used to capitalize
on the bite.

Lot's of smallies and kentucky's are setting up on bluff ends and
suspending off of bluff banks with some sort of ledge that's adjacent.
These fish can be taken with small jigs or shaky head worms while
they are actively feeding on the ledge.  When suspended off of the
bluff use spoons and drop shot rigs with small plastics to make these
fish eat.  The very best way to make these fish eat is by putting a
whole night crawler in there face, eventually they will commit and
take your offering.  Look at depths of 40 to 80 feet with the
concentrations of game fish and bait fish to be in the mid depth
ranges.

Another option to consider this month is the Little Red River, It's
been fishing phenomenally!  We have been averaging over 80 fish per
trip with 2 fisherman.  Brown's up to 22"'s are showing up and
feeding daily with all the fresh water coming through the dam.

With the reservoir resting 17 feet above normal pool we are sure to
see the results of another great spawn year this summer and fall.
Fishing looks to be great for the rest of the year here in the
beautiful Ozarks.  We are only 2.5 hours from the Memphis Bridge,
C'mon and catch the good life here on Greers Ferry~

Catching Report

Hello All!  Little different update this time around.  First off, the lake has been fishing very inconsistent but fishing overall has been better than average for this transitional period.  Secondly and most important I have been spending some time with clients on the river here as of late and I have to say it's fishing better than I have ever seen it.  Just the other day we boated close to 80 trout in 4 hours with 2 fisherman and today we boated that many again in the same time frame.  All good healthy fish and the air temperature coming off of the river sure does make it nice to be out.  I'll keep you updated with both the lake and river as I will be out most everyday.  Good Fishin`
