Greers Ferry fishing report

Greers Ferry is slightly below normal pool and falling due to daily generation.  Fall Patterns are already starting to rain supreme.  Lot's of bait fish staging on big channel swings into main lake flats and pockets.  Timber on these locations is a plus but not mandatory for multi-species action.  Main Lake points with a flat side are also heating up as fish transition into there fall pattern.  Artificial's and Live bait fished higher in the column rather than in relation to the bottom are producing well.  The top water bite has taken some really nice fish, Hybrids up to 7lbs and Largemouth up to 4 have come in over the last week.  My top water bite is lasting well up into the day even with lot's of sun!

Greers Ferry Fishing Report 08/25/2011

Hello All!  Well, after a long spring and summer of high water we are finally back to normal pool here on the reservoir.  Cooling rains have been a big relief from some serious hot weather experienced earlier in the month.  Water surface temperatures started the month in the lower 90's and have since cooled to the mid 80 degree range with water surface temps peaking during the day around 87 degrees.

Fall patterns are starting to kick into gear.  Gamefish and Bait are beginning to stage on Secondary Points, Shallower Flats and channel swings within the creeks.  Our Kentucky's are really the first fish starting to really get going towards this fall pattern.  Although our whites and hybrids are not to far behind as they are inching shallower in the column everyday with surfacing being seen sporadically around the clock.  Upper to mid zones in the water column are holding higher volumes of fish while there are still a few relating to structure and cover closer to the bottom.

As we inch towards fall, power fishing will still rain supreme as schools of active fish will be feeding throughout the day in many different locations.  Fall is typically a, "junk fishing" paradise here on Greers Meaning you can catch them while throwing just about everything and anything at some point during the day.  This is the best time of year to experiment and try new things, you just never know what's gonna work best that particular day.  Look for catch rates to go up daily as long as your covering water and finding new pods of active fish.

Greers Ferry Fishing Report

-- Greers Ferry is slowly approaching normal pool.  Water Surface
temperatures have fallen off a few degrees with the cooler nights and
above average rainfall over the last week.  Surfacing fish are
becoming more consistent, although in smaller pods.  Topwaters and
In-Line Spinners are catching fish.  Trolling Crankbaits are also
picking up isolated bigger hybrids once it gets on into the morning.
Our Largemouth are schooling early as well and the best bite has been
on soft plastic jerkbaits and topwaters.  We have caught a few walleye
on most trips out and the best concentrations of eyes are in the 28-
36 foot zone.

Greers Ferry fishing report

With over an inch of much needed rain lake wide Monday and into Tuesday water surface temperatures cooled slightly.  Look for the surface activity to be getting better this week on most all species.  Over the weekend we saw a very slow bite with very few fish being taken.  Monday, however, was great.  Multi -Species action was seen with Walleyes, White, Hybrids and a few ky's.  In-line Spinners and 3/4 oz. fish dinner spoons where key in locating and catching good numbers.  The best bite has been in 28 - 66 feet of water, Shad must be present for any type of decent bite to be had on all species.
