Greers Ferry Fishing Report

Current water temperatures are in the lower 60's and edging up a little each day.  The walleye bite is finally starting to improve although consistent fishing for them specifically is still lagging. One day a limit or two and then next very few species specific bites.  Crappie are still staging for the spawn with some actively spawning. The very best bite is still deep, Depths of 25 to 45 feet are holding lot's of Big Females that have NOT dropped there eggs yet.  Trolling and Long Lining Jigs is still the very best way to locate and catch a limit.  All 3 species of bass are currently in all 3 stages of the spawn.  Fish are concentrated in small areas no matter the depth.  One foot out to 18 feet of water are holding concentrations of Blacks, Smallmouth and Ky's.  White Bass and Hybrids are feeding well and surfacing and schooling at different time's of the day.  Select pockets and creeks with the most bait are holding the most temperate bass.  In-line Spinners, Top Waters and the Alabama Rig are getting bit when fished through schools of feeding fish.  The next couple of months are going to be an excellent time to hit the water with a lot of action.

Greers Ferry Fishing Report 4/23/2013

Greers Ferry is currently five inches over normal pool of 462.04.  The bite really depends on the species and the day although catch rates are average to good across most of the reservoir.  Water temperatures are finally stabilizing in the lower 60's and fish are responding well. White bass are really good both in the creeks and rivers on swim baits and The Cindy K Spinner.  Crappie are in front of the bushes out to 35 feet of water and have been eating small to medium shiners.  Small mouth are on a terror once you locate them and get your timing right.  Some bigger Bronze Backs are coming off the spawn and starting to eat moving baits well.  Largemouth are in the spawn and pre spawn stages with select creeks and pockets holding more spawning fish than others on any given day.  The best bite on the reservoir is still to come for the walleyes.  I've been catching a few each trip from the bushes out to 32 feet, they are still not schooled up in there feeding location's adjacent to there spawning areas yet but it's coming.

Greers Ferry Fishing Report 4/02/2013

Greers Ferry is currently lagging with water temperatures but the
bight is still on with many species, they are just not quite where
they should be by this time of year (typical spawning locations).
Water surface temperatures are varying significantly by location and
time of day on reservoir, anywhere from 49 - 58 degrees.  Right now we
have got pre spawn Largemouth, Ky's, Small mouth, Crappie and White
Bass with post spawn walleyes.  I really think we are going to get a
huge wave of spawners with the full moon this month and leading up to
it should prove to be some of the best fishing of the year.  I have
cleaned and cut a variety of species including lot's of Crappies and
Ky's.  All of the Females I've cleaned are full of eggs that appear to
be a few weeks off from being ready, however the fish are trying to
move shallow but are positioning themselves in the most stable water
which happens to be the upper 15 feet of the column no matter the
depth.  The shallow crappie bite is getting better day by day despite
the roller coaster of weather we've seen thus far.  Mostly all males
from 0 - 10 feet with a good mix of both females and males coming out
of deeper water by the trollers.  Limits of crappie are out there but
the bight seems to change by the hour.  I've had the best luck fishing
single and double jig rigs under a slip bobber with my presentation
and depth changing according to the condition's.  Red/Chart,
White/Chart, Glow and Purple/Hot Orange being my go to colors.

Greers Ferry Fishing Report 3/17/2013

TRANSITION is the word of the day!  As I head to Lake Fork Texas to guide for MONSTER largemouth I wanted to give all of you an update of what to expect right now and for the next couple of weeks here on Greers Ferry.  Water Levels are holding above normal pool, with a little rain in the forecast we may just have another year of water in the bushes for the spawn.  Right now water surface temperatures are ranging from the upper 40's to almost 60 degrees in some areas with colored water.  Water temperatures at 10 feet and deeper fall of quickly as it takes days of warming to saturate the entire column.  This is very important to note this time of year as fish of all species prefer stable or warming water temperatures. As the water warms and stabilizes in the mid 50's over the next couple of weeks the bite will most certainly improve.  Big Gizzard Shad and Thread fins are already starting to move up and will start spawning in the shallower water with the coming full moon.  All types of game fish will be on the feed in preparation for the spawn and recovery after they have dropped their eggs.White Bass will be running, Crappie will be bighting and the walleye bight will drastically improve. Concentrate your efforts in 15 feet of water or less and you will catch fish.  The Cindy K Spinner, Fish Dinner Lures Shad Spoon, Swim Baits, Grubs, Tubes, Crank baits, Jerk Baits and other shad imitating baits will produce. If you have any question's about our lake or would like to book a Spring or Summer fishing trip here on Greers Ferry shoot me an email, Text or Call with question's or to book your trip. Greers Ferry Fishing Report 02/19/2013

Right now Greers Ferry is fishing fair to moderate with pre-frontal days and warming trends fishing best. Surface temperatures are still ranging in the mid to upper 40's with some of the coolest temperatures coming from up the rivers. Minor creeks and drains with inflow are proving to be a tad warmer than main lake but not as stable. Smallmouth, Largemouth and Ky's are the most consistent fishing for me right now utilizing both live bait and artificial baits. The walleye bite in my boat is OFF. Hybrids, White Bass and Crappie are all doing pretty much the same thing. Staging off of long flats that dump into the main channel, Location's with Timber topping out 15 - 35 ft deep seem to be holding the largest concentrations. The Lake Fork Live Baby shad and small minnows fished slowly through these schools will pick up decent numbers of fish.

Fishing Report

Water levels are falling when we see generation from the COE.  Water temps are in the lower to mid 60's depending on time of day and location on the reservoir.  Overall fishing has been fair to average with most of our fish coming in from 18 - 35 feet.  We are beginning to come out of our low dissolved oxygen levels and our fish seem to be responding.  The best fall bite is readily approaching as water temperatures fall into the mid to upper 50's I look for our Hybrids and White Bass to make a big push soon and fishing should be lights out.  The Cindy K Spinner, fish dinner lures flutter spoon in white and small to medium swim baits will produce best.
