Waters Rising
Water Levels are up more than 9 feet in a couple of days with buckets of rain falling here on the reservoir. Overall the bite has been excellent on deeper fish with a good shallow bite late yesterday evening. Look for all species to push up and use all the new cover for food and sanctuary. Still Boating eyes everyday out, even yesterday with the water rising close to a foot while we where on the water!

Report 4/20/2011
Greers Ferry is currently at normal pool and rising. Fishing overall
the past week has been great with a couple of moderate days mixed in
over the weekend. The Walleye bite has been incredible for this time
of year. Good numbers are coming in, most all of the fish we have
been on are in the 11 - 21 foot zone. The whites and hybrids are
still up most of the creeks and are eating well very early and late in
the day. The crappie I have found have been in 20 - 25 feet of water
on brush. Good Timing seems to be critical when pursuing these fish.

Hello All! Greers Ferry water levels are on the rise and so is the bite! Current water levels put the reservoir a foot and a half below normal pool of 461.3 ft. this is much improved from previous spring levels. Water Surface temperatures are ranging in the upper 50's to lower 60's, I expect these numbers to fall off slightly over the coming week due to more seasonable temperature ranges. We have basically blown through the 50's this year so everything that typically happens during this range is in full force. This young spring has been a series of ups and downs so far and I look for this trend to continue into the rest of our 2011 Spring.
The Walleye bite here on Greers is as good as I have ever scene it. With that being said, it’s still fishing and anything can happen tomorrow. This week is daylight and dark different than the past couple of weeks during our last cold spell. The bite has escalated along with the temperatures. With having past through the 50 degree range without so much as a hiccup we are seeing lot’s of different things happen in a hurry with the eyes. They are on a feeding surge that will take them right into the summer months. Look for transition areas in the creeks and large gravel flats with grass to hold the best numbers of eyes for the rest of the spring. Twelve to Twenty-Two feet of water seems to be key.
Most of our Largemouth population has pushed extremely shallow with the warming water and the arrival of our next full moon on the 18th. A large percentage of these fish will spawn this month and next. Target shallow water hard bottom areas with some type of cover. Minnow Imitations, Jigs, and Grubs should all be used when trying to locate these fish. Seven feet of water or less with deep water access close by will hold the largest of the fish pushing into spawn.
Our Hybrid Stripers have finally made there appearance in the shallows attempting to spawn. Good fish in the 4 to 7lb class are starting to show up. Swim Baits, Grubs, In-Line Spinners and most any minnow imitation lure will get bit. The bite has been best late in the afternoon and in less than 3 feet of water with wind or current present. Both Main lake and tributary locations have been good recently.
With Spring time weather in full force there is no better time to be on Greers Ferry Lake. Fishing is really hitting it’s stride and I look for us to have consistent fishing for some time now. Come and Catch the Good life with me here on Greers Ferry. Greers Ferry Update 4/5/2011
Hello All, Here is a little update with what went on over the last week and into the weekend. I was asked by a few of my fellow fisherman to share my views on how difficult fishing was this past weekend, Hope this helps some of you others out~
This past weekend fished extremely tough when compared to the previous few weeks. Much of our population of fish that where in 3 to 5 feet of water simply retreated with the new moon and colder sustained temperatures. We had a really good push of fish coming shallow last month with the unseasonably warm temperatures and a REALLY big moon. Last weeks colder temp's simply zapped the warming water and the fish responded in a very negative way. All week last week we saw water surface temps in the upper 40's and low 50 degree range. Saturday was no exception, the day's air temp started at 37 degrees with the water surface temperature at 50. With light winds and High Pressure over the area our fish just did not want to participate. My guide trips both Thursday and Friday did fairly well overall considering the colder temps, consistency was key both these days. We had good cloud cover and wind, this was not the case Saturday. You've got to have those tough days too make the good ones stand out! We are really close to AWESOME fishing here on the reservoir, I'll be on the water every day and reporting what I find!
