Greers Ferry Fishing Report 1/31/2011

Greers Ferry is currently at 453.87 ft above msl.  Lake levels have fallen close to a foot over the past 5 days with heavier generation from the dam.  Water surface temperatures are in the Mid to upper 40's lake wide with 7 to 15 feet of visibiltiy. Over the past weekend we experienced above seasonal temperatures which brought many fisherman back to the lake.  Overall the bite was tuff for most with High Pressure and little wind. Most all species are really keying in on larger shad when feeding and being at the right place at the right time is a must.  4 and 5 inch hard plastic jerkbaits are about the only consistant deal going right now for all three species of bass, although you can catch a few Kentucky's on a shakey head when focusing on most bluff banks and sheer drops on the main lake and in the creeks.  White Bass, Hybrids and Walleyes are starting to push well into the 3 main tributaries that feed the reservoir.  Jigging spoons in 18 to 40 feet of water are catching some fish around mid morning.  Focus on Devil's Fork and South Fork for the best concentrations of fish.
